[Lee Samuels letters to Marjorie Bache Menden] [1953-1958]

[Note, 195-?] Apr. 22, 155 John Street, New York [to] Dear Marjorie / LS. Full text: Sorry about the delay. Ernest [Hemingway] was on a fishing trip and I missed him on my previous trip to Havana. Best regards, LS. -- [Letter, 1953] Apr. 28, Dragones 108, Havana. Notes having lunch "at E.H.'s yesterday" and that Hemingway had given him the manuscript. -- [Letter] 1953 May 19, 155 John Street, New York [to] Mary. Apparently Menden had provided a copy of a Hemingway work printed in a "circus program" that Hemingway had never seen. Hemingway sends his thanks. -- [Letter] 1958 Jun. 19, Dragones 108, Havana [to] Mrs. E. Menden. Samuels is sending some autographed Hemingway materials through a friend to Menden. Included among the materials is a copy of "The Sun" (The Sun Also Rises) that is a gift from Hemingway; Lee notes that the current edition on p. 175 has "balls" where in previous printed editions it read as "horns."
